GoodBye IE6..please don't come back!
Since IE6 was released it has been a pain for every designer, the browser has its own world leaving behind web standards, forcing designers to add hacks, extra code and scripts just to fix its stupid bugs, bugs and more Bugs. Sadly Microsoft didn't pay much attention until Firefox entered the game and of course gained popularity in no time, not to mention that Google offers revenue to Adsense webmasters to recommend Firefox. However, IE6 as the default browser for windows was not to disappear that easy and designers were still forced to support it, even with the release of IE7 - which btw is still not following all web standards - users still need Windows Genuine Advantage validation to install it which actually did not make IE6 users any less.
Thursday, October 04, 2007 Steve Reynolds announced IE7 as a free update to everyone even pirated windows, he said “Because Microsoft takes its commitment to help protect the entire Windows ecosystem seriously, we’re updating the IE7 installation experience to make it available as broadly as possible to all Windows users. With today’s “Installation and Availability Update,” Internet Explorer 7 installation will no longer require Windows Genuine Advantage validation and will be available to all Windows XP users." I guess that’s no longer a reward for legal windows users?…anyway, that news was good enough to cheer me that this creature IE6 is going Bye Bye.
In a perfect world Microsoft would have Firefox 2 as the default web browser for windows
